Water Conservation Grant applications - deadline approaching

The Department of Social Protection wishes to remind householders that the deadline to apply for the Water Conservation Grant is fast approaching.  To receive the €100 grant, householders must apply by midnight, Thursday 22 October.
 
The Department of Social Protection has written to over 1.3million households who registered with Irish Water before 30 June, inviting them to apply for the Water Conservation Grant.  Applications can be made online at www.watergrant.ie or by calling the Water Conservation Grant Support Team on 1890 100 043 or 0761 087 890.
 
The telephone lines for people with enquiries on the Water Conservation Grant remain open from 9.00am to 5.00pm today and tomorrow (Tuesday 20 October and Wednesday, 21 October) and they will remain open on Thursday, 22 October from 9.00am until midnight.  
 
To date, over 848,000 people have applied for the grant.  The Department has paid the grant to almost 810,000 households.

Note to Editors

  • To apply for the Water Conservation Grant, households must have:
    • their Irish Water customer account number/registration number which is available on correspondence from Irish Water.  Householders who are customers of Irish Water will find this number    on a bill and householders who are not customers of Irish Water will find it on their registration confirmation letter
    • their Transaction Identification Number (TIN), available on the Water Conservation Grant letter from the Department of Social Protection
    • their Water Point Reference Number (WPRN), also available on the Water Conservation Grant letter from the Department of Social Protection
    • their Personal Public Service Number (PPSN);
    • their bank or other financial institution account details.
  • The Department of Social Protection is administering the grant on behalf of the Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government.
  • When applying for the grant, applicants will be required to confirm that the dwelling for which they are making an application was their principal private residence on 30 June 2015.
