The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection remains available to provide assistance to householders affected by Storm Eleanor.
All of our offices were open today (Wednesday 3rd January 2018) and staff from the Department’s Community Welfare Service continue to work closely with Local Authorities to assess the level of service required across the country, particularly in the Galway and Limerick areas.
Affected householders are asked to contact their local Intreo Centre where Community Welfare Service staff can provide assistance.
The Humanitarian Assistance Scheme is available to assist people whose homes are damaged by flooding and who are not in a position to meet costs for essential needs, household items and in some instances structural repair. The scheme is means tested and assistance is not provided for losses which are covered by insurance or for commercial and business losses.
