Carer’s Benefit – Update from the Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection wishes to confirm that all customers of Carer’s Benefit who experienced a delay with their payment today will receive payment in their accounts tomorrow morning, Friday, 23rd February.

The Department apologises to these customers for the inconvenience caused and advises them if they need financial assistance today, they should contact the Community Welfare Service at their local Intreo Centre.

The Department of Employment Affairs & Social Protection advises that 2,800 customers who are receiving the (PRSI based) Carer’s Benefit did not receive their weekly payment as normal this morning which is being investigated at present. 

People who are receiving Carer’s Allowance (means assessed) are not affected.

The Department apologises to those people whose payments have been affected this morning and advises them if they need financial assistance today, they should contact the Community Welfare Service at their local Intreo Centre.

The Department is working to restoring payments to these customers as quickly as possible and we will keep you updated.
