Telephone Support Allowance

Print page

The telephone support allowance is a means tested payment for those living alone and of limited means and is intended to assist in the cost of communications and/or a home alert solutions. Customers who qualify for the living alone allowance (LAA) and who at the same time are in receipt of the free fuel allowance (FFA) (which is means tested allowance) will automatically qualify for the telephone support allowance.

This allowance will be paid as a separate payment with your primary payment. There will be no need to complete an application form as this will be an automatic entitlement for customers, once the LAA and FFA are in payment to them as part of the primary scheme payment. This new allowance will be worth €2.50 per week to customers or €130 annually. It is expected to be in payment from June 2018.
