How is my payment calculated?

Print page

The personal rate of payment is based on the assessment of your restriction on capacity for work and whether you were in receipt of Illness Benefit or Invalidity Pension. Payment is based on your medical assessment as below:

Medical Assessment

% of your personal rate of Illness Benefit or Invalidity Pension payment

Moderate

50

Severe

75

Profound

100

Note

The conditions for payment of an increase for a qualified adult and/or qualified child(ren) remain the same as those that applied to your Illness Benefit or Invalidity Pension claim.

If you were in receipt of Invalidity Pension and had an entitlement to Free Travel or Island Allowance you can retain them if you qualify for Partial Capacity Benefit. If you were in receipt of Household Benefits (Electricity/Gas, Telephone, Television) you can also retain them, subject to a means test after two years.
