Your employer must pay you for the first 21 calendar days of health and safety leave. You will then qualify for Health and Safety Benefit from this Department, as long as you satisfy all the conditions of the scheme.
Your payment is made up of a personal rate for yourself with extra amounts for a qualified adult or any qualified children ( see Section 6 for details).
The weekly rate of Health and Safety Benefit you may get depends on your level of earnings in the relevant tax year.
To qualify for the standard rate, your average weekly earnings in the relevant tax year must be at least €300.00. However, reduced rates are payable if your earnings were below €300.00 a week.
You may get half the personal rate of Health and Safety Benefit if you are getting any of the following payments:
- One-Parent Family Payment
- Widow's Contributory Pension
- Widow's Non-Contributory Pension
- Deserted Wife's Benefit or Allowance
- Prisoner's Wife's Allowance.
If you are getting a reduced rate of pension, benefit or allowance, you may get more than half the personal rate of Health and Safety Benefit.
