EYE/ Co-Sponsored Placement Programme – helping young people to get work experience in Europe!

The Co-Sponsored Placement Programme has been established by EURES Ireland and is an example of many youth focused actions that Ireland has committed to delivering under the Irish Youth Guarantee.

Under the Co-sponsored Placement Programme, young Jobseekers, age 18-30, are co- sponsored by EURES Ireland and an Employer to take up a work placement in another European country for up to 12 months.  These placements enable Irish jobseekers to gain work experience in Europe and upskill in their chosen profession.

Who is eligible?

  • Jobseekers living in Ireland age 18-30 (inclusive) who are unemployed
  • Casual workers living in Ireland who earned less than €9,776 in the twelve month period prior to applying for this Programme

Benefits of the Co- Sponsored Placement Programme for jobseekers

Co- Sponsored Placement Programme greatly enhances the development and skills of those taking part and assists them in realising their full potential.  It helps to gain valuable work experience, develop language skills and increases participants’ job prospects on their return to Ireland.

EURES support available as part of the programme may include:

  • Travel allowance
  • Re-location Allowance
  • Work placement allowance
  • Induction Programme to include information on living and working abroad as well as CV Preparation/Interview Skills
  • Language Training Allowance (If required)

Benefits of the Co- Sponsored Placement Programme for employers

Co- Sponsored Placement Programme may be of interest to Irish companies with branches in Europe who are having difficulty recruiting staff with specific skills required to work in their company. For example companies with a demand for certain language skills or particular technical skills could participate in this programme. EURES Ireland and the Employer will co - sponsor the jobseeker throughout the placement. On completion of the placement the jobseeker will be upskilled and meet the requirements to take up employment with the company in Ireland. Time spent on placements counts towards the qualifying period for jobseekers eligibility for the JobsPlus employer incentive scheme.
