Can I get any other social welfare payment with Blind Pension?

If you are under age 66 and you satisfy the relevant conditions, you may also qualify for:
  • Illness Benefit,
  • Jobseeker’s Benefit,
  • Maternity Benefit,
  • Adoptive Benefit,
  • Health and Safety Benefit,
  • Injury Benefit,
  • Widow’s, Widower’s or Surviving Civil Partner’s Contributory Pension,
  • Widow's, Widower's or Surviving Civil Partner’s Non-Contributory Pension,
  • One-Parent Family Payment, or

Where an increase is payable for a qualified spouse, civil partner or cohabitant and/or qualified children on the Blind Pension, an increase is also payable on the schemes listed above.

Note:
Receiving Blind Pension and Carer’s Allowance at the same time.

If you are getting certain payments (including Blind Pension) from this Department and you satisfy the conditions for Carer’s Allowance, you may get half the rate of Carer’s Allowance along with your Blind Pension.

The qualifying conditions for receipt of the half rate Carer’s Allowance payment are exactly the same as Carer’s Allowance.
