Payments to 7,227 Social Welfare customers due to receive their weekly social welfare payment by cheque today Tuesday, 17th October will be delayed by one day. Customers will instead receive their cheques tomorrow, Wednesday, 18th October. All other social welfare cheque payments will issue on time and as normal.

Customers who normally collect their Social Welfare payment at their local Post Office, or have their payment lodged to a Bank/Building Society account are not affected and will continue to receive their payment as normal.

The Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection sincerely apologises to the customers who are affected by this delay. The delay is as a result of the adverse weather conditions. If any customer is experiencing financial difficulty as a result of this payment delay we would ask that they contact their local Intreo Centre or Social Welfare office today, Tuesday, 17th October, where the Department’s Community Welfare Service can assist.
