This section of the website sets out information on the Irish Government's plans for the future of pensions in Ireland. The National Pensions Framework was published on 3 March 2010 and provides the framework for the Government's plan for pension reform. It encompasses all aspects of pensions, from social welfare to private occupational pensions and public sector pension reform. The framework document is available below.
Development of the framework was informed by the range of views raised during the Green Paper consultation process. The Green Paper (published in October 2007) set out the position in relation to social welfare, occupational, personal and public service pensions and posed questions for consideration. An extensive consultation process followed publication of the Green Paper the report of which is also available below:
