The UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty (October 17th) is a day to express friendship and solidarity with people in poverty.
The Social Inclusion Division has provided a budget of €30,000 to locally-based community and voluntary groups promoting the UN Day in 2010.
Twelve groups applied for this funding and nine were successful. The maximum grant per group was €5,000.
