Budget 2003 - Carers

• Increase of €10 per week for people in receipt of Carer's Allowance aged 66 and over.
• €7 per week for people getting Carer's Allowance who are under age 66.
• Improvements in the means test for Carer's Allowance increasing the weekly income disregard by €19 per week for single people and €38 per week for couples bringing the disregards to €210 and €420 per week respectively.

• Increase of €54.77 in the income threshold to €150 for people in receipt of Carer's Benefit who wish to engage in limited employment or self-employment.

• Respite Care Grant increased to €735 from €635. Carers looking after more than one person will receive a grant of €1,470.
