Personal Public Service Number (PPS Number)

Your PPS Number

The Personal Public Service number (PPS Number) is your personal reference number. It helps you to apply for benefits and to get information from public service agencies quickly and easily. This includes services such as Social Welfare, Revenue, Public Healthcare and Education

PPS Number Registration Centres

We are reducing the number of centres where you can get a PPS number to one in each county. We have 28 centres in operation at present. If you need to get a PPS number while we are in the changeover period please contact your nearest Local Office of the Department of Social Protection  click here to find out if they still issue PPS number there.  If they don't, they will tell you where you have to go. We apologise to customers for any inconvenience caused while we are going through this period of change.

If you can't remember your PPS number please call in to your Local Office of the Department Protection. This office will try to find the number for you.  You must bring evidence of your identity such as your passport or driving licence when you call to the local office.
