What can I apply for if I do not qualify for Illness Benefit?

Disability Allowance

You may get this payment if you have a disability that is expected to last for at least one year, you are aged between 16 to 66, you satisfy a means test and are habitually resident in the State.

Occupational Injury Benefit

 You may get this if you are ill due to an accident at work or have a prescribed occupational disease.

Disablement Benefit

 You may get this if you suffer a loss of physical or mental faculty because of an occupational injury or a prescribed occupational disease.

Invalidity Pension

 You may get this if you are ill and unfit for work and are likely to be permanently incapable of work.

Supplementary Welfare Allowance

 If you do not have enough PRSI contributions for Illness Benefit and your income is too low to meet your needs, you may qualify for Supplementary Welfare Allowance. For more information, log on to 'www.welfare.ie'. or contact your local Community Welfare Officer.
